Day 21 - SANTIAGO!

Joe rests and watches pilgrims arrive

It's busy today!

Blue Skies!

Lon and Katie are happy to be here!

Pam is always so happy!

HOORAY!

 Santiago at Sunset

The albergue at San Martin Pinario was beautiful inside.
The rooms were small but sufficient.

This is the best photo I have of the group at Santiago.
If anyone has a better one,
I'd love to have it!
I can't figure out how to nab Pam's great photo
from the disc she sent.

For many more photos of previous walks on the Camino Frances,
as well as the Aragones and Via de la Plata routes,

Day 20 - Arzua to Arco do Pino

This is not one of my favorite sections, but here are a few photos I took.
I like this ancient celtic art sitting in someone's yard.

Another fallen Pilgrim.

Once we arrived,
Lottie and I walked to town for dinner,
where we ran into Pam and Father Jeff.
Dinner was awesome!

One of us (Lottie?) started with Pulpo.

I started with Shrimp Scampi.

Jeff began with a garbanzo bean soup.

The carne was to die for!

We stayed at Pension Mavi,
and although a favorite place to sleep,
the breakfast left much to be desired.
I think a person would do better
to purchase breakfast on the road.

Just one more day's walk to Santiago!
We're almost there!

Day 19 - Portomarin to Arzua

Another gorgeous section of walking.
Joe and I have walked this section before
and decide to take the road for much of it.

Nancy and Laura are doing fine!

A horreo.

We stop for morning coffee a few kilometers up the road.

Patty takes a photo of me taking a photo of her!
:)

There must have been a fire here earlier this year.

This sunflower is heavy with seeds.

Joe is VERY tall compared to whomever owns this house!

I can't get over how happy the cows in Spain are
compared to our poor old cows in the United States
who never see a blade of green grass
their entire lives.

Refreshment close to the end of the walk.

Photos for Edeltraud - Meeting Again

While walking the Camino in a rainstorm this year, I heard a very familiar voice.
I turned and saw a profile.
Was it?
YES!
It was Edeltraud!
She was a pilgrim I met while walking in 2006!!

So.. I promised to give her some photos from the fun fiesta we attended.
Here they are!

I can't remember which albergue this is taken in.

 Lamb stew cooking.
 Paella!!!

 They served us from wheelbarrows.

Remember these people? They sat down at some family's private table and refused to move!  They pretended not to understand.  Bad pilgrims!

 YUM!

 Joe was happy!

 You were happy too!

 Remember this couple?

The band played oompah music. It was great!

 OH yes, the BROOM DANCE!

This little boy started at the top of the hill and was going so fast I missed the last shot!

Joe was drunk and danced with the girls!

 Remember dancing?

 Such a fun night!

Meeting again on the Camino in 2012!
What a wonderful surprise!
